#5 Retro Lights
A slightly smaller issue that can definitely wait, but the lights haven't been changed from the 80s, and they're actually not very good at making light:

Yes they are indeed horrible! Shouldn't be too bad to do. First take out one of the bulbs & look for the small print on it - check they are mains (240) volt - some are 12v run from a transformer. If they're 240v that's cool - they probably will be. Looks like they fasten to the ceiling with screws - that's good too, should be fairly easy to remove. try taking one out (turn off power first. I expect your plasterer will have to take them out anyway to do the ceiling. The ones that you are looking at in the link seem fine - you can get a variety of bulbs ranging from spot to floodlights - floods would be ideal. I think most of them fit a standard hole, 73 mm I think but measure it. There's a variety of ways that new ones fit to the ceiling, there's usually some kind of clamp arrangement & usually the fitting of them is quite easy. The wiring is usually straightforward, +ve -ve & earth. The main bit is to get ones that will fit the existing hole, will save a lot of hassle but I do have various hole cutters if required. get one of those electrical test screwdrivers to be on the safe side & you shouldn't have any problems
Oh and if there's no obvious screws on the fitment, I expect the whole base of the light will be on a screw thing internally. If you can't get it to turn, put on a pair of Marigolds - they're really good for giving you extra grip! X
