In a fit of spider fearlessness I have stripped the wallpaper off a lot of the living room. HOWEVER, around the upvc window there's a bit of a gap -
When I come to paint the walls, what do I do with this?! Do I need some kind of sealant in an awesome gun thing? Help Me, Dad!

1)Yup you need an awesome gun thingy, I guess it's white PVC so an all purpose silicon
sealant will be fine. Just buy a cheap sealant gun & make sure it fit the sealant cartridge
(there are 2 sizes). Best really to do the sealant after you have painted. Try & remove as
much as of the old sealant as you can, a Stanley knife is worth the buying. The more you
can get off the better the end result.Give it a good wipe over with ordinary vinegar when
it's as clean as you can get it. Cut the end of the sealant nozzle about 5 mm from the tip at
an angle, better to have a small hole (as the bishop said to the actress). Make sure it's all
dry & free from mould. Run a bead of silicon all the way round & smooth over with a wet
finger, try to wodge it in as much as possible. Don't worry if the 1st go isn't brill, let it dry &
do again. Wipe the excess off with a damp sponge. If poss, have a practice on a bit you
can’t see easily, bit of a knack to get a smooth run of sealant. Unscrew the nozzle when
you’ve finished & stick some cling film over it & screw the nozzle back on - it’ll keep longer
that way.
